Christmas in July Reviews
Christmas in July with Martingale and That Patchwork Place
At the quilt book publishers Martingale, Christmas comes in July. I recently received two publications that are bursting at the seams with terrific projects to brighten your Christmas hearth this coming Yule tide time.

The first book is titled Celebrate Christmas with That Patchwork Place – 25 festive projects to quilt and sew. There are 115 packed pages of the most wonderful projects that have a festive / winter theme. The photos are very clear as are the instructions and diagrams.

This publication, which was put together by the experts at That Patchwork Place, is aimed at the beginner to intermediate quilter. Projects include table runners, tree skirts, wall hangings, quilts, stockings, ornaments, pillows and purses and lots more. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, these projects have a secondary winter theme about them and can be utilised to celebrate the winter time. Use of fusible web is prevalent which equals easy to make, quick to achieve projects.

The second book is titled Here Comes Winter – Quilted Projects to Warm your Home and the authors are Jeanne Large and Shelley Wicks. This publication is very colourful and exciting with terrific patterns to create.

This publication has a very secular focus with no references to the Christian elements of the celebration of Christmas, so this publication is going to suit quilters from around the globe. The designs are really cute, and very cleverly thought out. The instructions are simple and diagrams and graphics accompanying the instructions are easy to read and understand.

I like that the patterns are very clearly marked and labelled and that the publication is not rushed. The authors, Jeanne Large and Shelley Wicks have spent a great deal of time ensuring that the projects are doable and have used user friendly language in the instructions.
